Children and Adolescents with Hypertension by Race (Johanna A.)
According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2005-2008, the majority of children with hypertension were African American. These children made up 4.4% of all high blood pressure cases. White children made up 3.5% while Mexican Americans made up about 3%. On average, about 3.5% of all children in each race had hypertension during 2005-2008.

Adults who Die from Stroke Every Year (Cazmere M.)
According to National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion , only about half (54%) of adults have their high blood pressure under control. This common condition increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, 2 of the leading causes of death for Americans.
